Making a Statement

So I thought it was about time that I added a little something extra to the blog now that it seems that I have got the hang of things a little bit. In saying this I have added another page which will feature pieces of my jewelry collection and will be updated regularly. My original plan was to individually take photos of my collection but then realised it is much more effective to take these images while I am wearing the pieces. I am hoping that you guys like these images and below is a taster of what will come from this new addition.

Hope you guys like what you see! Updates will be coming soon so don't miss it.

These boots were made for walking!

So for the last week or so I have been hunting up and down the high street for investment pieces for the upcoming season. The specific items that I never hold back on are a good pair of winter shoes and a warm coat that will essentially go with my entire wardrobe! As daunting as this task sounds, I find that throughout the last number of years I have excelled, and this year I found all the appropriate winter footwear under one roof.... New Look!!

So in Ireland, winter generally equals lots and lots of rain and the occasional snow, so this means that our shoes must get our little piggy's warm and dry. I tend to opt for black boots, particularly biker boots as not only do they do their job of keeping your feet dry, but they look great with almost everything. This year I wanted something a little bit more classic but that could adapt to various styles.

Top Right, E34.99, New Look

So when I ventured into New Look recently and spotted the above footwear I knew I had not only landed a bargain but that I found the essentials to get my through the colder months. I tend to go for black boots as I find that they go with more of my clothes, but brown also goes perfectly with a lighter shade of denim, although this may work better in the summer months. The boots that I ended up picking up were the pair at the bottom of the pictures seen above. I haven't fashioned them yet but I have been co-ordinating outfits!! Preparation is key!

One of the reasons I adore winter is there always seems to be more parties. Everyone seems to be around on the weekends and going out definitely becomes more frequent! So while exploring through New Look I also spotted some new heels that they have in Store that may come in handy for you guys.

From research that I have been carrying out, red is a big favourite for this season and one of the sure fire ways of getting noticed is red shoes. If you tend not to be too experimental with your wardrobe this is also a great way to be bold without being over powering. My favourite out of the shoes listed above would have to be the black stilettos with gold finishing on the toe (the top image).

Last but not least I think it is important for every girl to have a pair of these robin hood shoes, in either colour!! Until you have a pair you really do not realise how essential they are They suit most clothes and do add style to any outfit when casually worn. Also i think it is key to note that this is not an advertisement for New Look, I just genuinely enjoy their new footwear. There is a link for the site below it anybody wants to check out the newest New Look FW themselves. New Look

Hang on to your hat ....

So for those of you who saw my post yesterday on waving goodbye to out summer attire, I feel not all may be lost. Over the night I carried out some research on various styles that I could try out this coming winter and it seems that hats (yes the fedoras and bowlers) are a perfect accessory for the winter months also. This is also a perfect time as most high street shops are in the middle or end of summer sale so these may be going cheaply.

I have a few bowler hats in my wardrobe which will be not be put away any time soon, so my main purchase has to be a few new fedoras. I am aware that at this time of the year it is usually a rare delivery into shops but one must be hopeful. Iv had a bit of a gander online and have come across a few from the beloved high street!!

Black Fedora, River Island, E25.00

Black Fedora, H&M, E19.95

Pink Fedora, River Island, E25.00

Bowler hats are also a great accessory for keeping your head warm in the winter. They are also a great option for those who do not like how big the fedora can feel on your head. These are some that I recommend investing in espaecially to add a pop of colour to your winter woolies.

Blue Bowler, River Island, E22

Pink Bowler, River Island, E22

And of course I cant forget the classic winter woolly hat, the beanie. I am hunting the streets for a really thick grey hat,as I find a grey hat will go with most of my clothes. This hat here from New Look seems like it could be a runner!!

Winter is all about wrapping up ladies, but also about standing out from the crowd which can be done perfectly with anyone of these stylish statements.

So Long Summer.......

So it's that time of the year again when we must pack away our white beach dresses and put the fedoras back in the wardrobe for another year. This part of the year is always a particularly gruelling task for me as I find summer style to be most natural to me. I long to live somewhere where it is acceptable to wear high waisted denim shorts (with no tights), a white tank and sandals all year!! So today I hvae decided to dedicate this post on reflecting on particular looks that I have admired, re-created and praised over the past few months.

As I have already told you all, my style is very bohemian orientated and I love anything that has fringe, a tassle, has an exotic print or rich in colour and floaty. The summer is a great way to express this look but I look forwrad to the challenge of winter and bulking up the layers. I look forward to sharing my experiments with you guys for this coming season.

Another trend I enjoyed this year was the extensive use of head accessories. Head scarves and jewels were all the rage this year and will continue this as long as I can. If you see a girl in the crowd wearing a head scarf in the snow it will be probably be me!!
Below are some of my fav head pieces from this summer.

This coming season I will be concentrating on the off the shoulder, oversized and punk trends. Better start planning my winter wardrobe! Love C X

Define Yourself

Make up is something every female has an interest in, even if it is just to some little degree. For me the fascination has always been how to achieve certain looks. My face is round and I have always thought this has made my face seem fatter in photos than it does in person and it was later in life that I learnt about the art of contouring your face. When I came across the image below on pinterest I knew I had to share it. It all starts with the shaping of your face, which seems self explanaotry but it really took me years to realise what shape my face was! After years of debaiting with myslef and my friends it was settled, I had a round face. I found this image very helpful as not only does it make you realise that different shape faces should be applying their brozer in specific areas but it also tells you wear you should be applying the product. Personally I am a fan of bronzer to define the areas of my gace but I know some of you may be a fan of blusher, so I popped a blusher applying sample below also.

For anyone who is insecure about their nose at all I stumbled across this image which I really think will serve very useful. I sometimes feel insecure about my nose which I think everybody does at some point in their life but this shows that it is nothing that a little make up can fix!!
If I come across any other useful beauty cheat sheets Il make sure to pop them here.

The Liebster Award

So up until yesterday I had never heard of this and so set upon my merry away to do a little research. When I received a tweet from  Zee-Railed I immediately went on to her blog page and discovered how cool this nomination really is. This is an amazing opportunity for new bloggers to get some recognition for the work they have done so far. This blog has only been active for three weeks now and I regard this as a huge honour that someone else has noticed and appreciated the work that I have done so far. The next tough task now is for me to nominate ten blogs and this is where most of my research went into. I also thought this was an amazing way to discover blogs that I may never have stumbled upon on my own. There are a few that I have nominated that are nothing short of brilliant and I am so happy to say that they are Irish based blogs.

For those of you who I have nominated there are a few rules of the awards;
1. You have to post 11 things about yourslef.

To read peoples minds would be a great power.

Id ask Marilyn how she really died and I'd ask Ryan Gosling out for another dinner!

Beads and Bright Ideas

So for those of you who have been following me on Twitter @CiCiJewels, you will know that the next creative step that I am going to take involves beginning to make my own jewellery. I love African style necklaces and bright beading on all the jewellery that I own and sometimes find it hard to find really unique pieces. I know this seems to be the "style at the minute" but I need to be able to have this style of jewellery even when the high streets don't sell it anymore. Therefore the best solution is to explore my own creativity and make my own.  The past few weeks I have been doing lots of research in local fabric and charity shops to find ideal pieces and supplies to start but nothing seems to popping out at me. Until I discovered Esty . This is a great website where you can not only pick up supplies at fantastic prices, but some really amazing pieces of jewellery are available to buy also.

The bigger the design and the beads the better. I enjoy big rings and an even bigger statement necklace, and after scouring Pinterest for some amazing photos of the kind of pieces I am only dying to create, the following are a few that I think some of you may appreciate.

If anyone has any suggestions as to other sites who can provide similar stones, gems or supplies for jewellery making please get in touch.

Bohemian Nights

Like all twenty-something girls I have been experimenting with various "looks" over the past few years to find a style that not only suits my body shape, but also my personality. Being a size 10 (basic average size) means that I have meat on my bones and this is the where shopping may cause a problem (depending on where you are carrying this weight). I have curves and therefore have never felt overly comfortable wearing tight fitted clothes. My style has also been loose on top and tight on the leg. Skinny jeans were my dream come true, and to this day I still stand by them 100%.But as I have personally evolved, so has my fashion sense and the one look that has always stuck by me has been "BoHo Chic".

As I get older this look intrigues me more and lately I have found myself expanding this look to all aspects of my life; my home, work, gadgets and covers, decorating. I think it is safe to say that deep down I long to be a bohemian gypsy. When I saw this recent picture it inspired me to decorate my room exactly as it is in this picture, but as I am in the middle of moving I have decided to hold off for the minute but watch this space.....

The high street is a great way to pick up random jewellery such as rings and earrings, but for truly inspiring pieces it is essential to explore back street vintage stores (it is usually the shops that are harder to find are the ones with the best bits). I am very proud of my collection of jewels and other accessories and plan to add a section to this blog displaying them. I promise to post them very soon. But in the mean time I have  been trying to replicate this look. If anyone has managed to succeed please let me know (even though I will be extremely jealous).

Another important feature in tyring to complete the BoHo Chic look is the way in which your hair is presented. I have two hair straighteners that are NEVER used. Using styling mouse is a really simple and quick way of achieving a tousled look, and along with the use of dry shampoo can be just as easily used at festivals or long weekends away.

This hair style by Sienna Miller is my hair crush at the minute and I am searching for the quickest way to achieve this look, because lets face it I don't know any girl who has that much time in the mornings to style their hair! If any body has any suggestions on how to achieve this look please get in touch!
