January Loves

Beauty is the focus for this month. I'm in need of facials, smoothening balms and a core make-up kits that will ease me into the summer months. The masters of make-up, MAC, really delivered this year (along with the mother!) and I received the Christmas collection set as seen above. This set contains an eye shadow palette (black and white sheen), which I've been using as a highlighter on the brow bone and to compliment a dusty eye affect. Along with this the set also has Pro Pencil Eyeliner in Engraved,Jet Black Mascara and a beautiful black oval cosmetic bag. Blue eyeliner is a massive trend set to hit the beauty world for the coming season, so I managed to do some research for my perfect blue over Christmas. And although I went with MAC Pro Pencil in Mountain Air, Butter is brand which I've only heard great things about and would highly recommend for bold, bright colours. 

Contouring is a brand new feature to my life and after waisting alot of money, and patience, I think I've finally settled on the best approach fo me to take, based on my tone and skin type. More to come on this later in the month along with a feature on MAC Pro-longwear foundation.

As January is such a crap month, financially and socially, I've been spending a lot of nights in. Ideal for catching up on boxets that I've been meaning to watch over the past few months.  At the minute I'm hooked on Sons Of Anarchy (season 5!!!). But candles, candles are the main highight of my cosy nights in. Already a fan of low, dusty lighting, I strongly believe that these just so much more of a relaxed athmosphere to any room. My fave are Yankee Candles, ovbiously.

October Faves

 So, it's the return of autumn favourites. It's an annual revisit of heavy coats, denims and layering. Yay!!  These are without a doubt my top choices for this season. Stepping more towards autumnal shades with beauty,complimented with an oversized winter coat. River Island have a beautiful option which I have my eye on. Next payday it will be mine! Being a massive fan of black accessories is again reflected in footwear and my nail choice, the leather backpack is also amazing!! I've been debaiting a backpack for awhile as I question the safety issues but for fashion reasons I can't argue with how beautiful this one is. Full information on all items featured are below;

Bomber Reboot

 

So we've had an influx of the 90's revival over the past year! From joggers, to scrunchies and back to high waisted denims. And thankfully, it seems that it's not going anywhere soon. I was very sceptical to believe that this trend would become as big as it has, thankfully I was wrong! The multitude of colours and prints that are available were definitely a bargaining factor for me when I was debating weather I should buy one of not, I obviously gave in and bought a floral option from Primark. I tend to try out something with a Primark version before I commit to the cost of a better quality option. 

Street style is a massive inspiration personally, and teaming bombers with basics is a look that I'm loving!! Bringing back the summer classic of maxi skirts and simple tanks, as well as going crazy with accessories is what I love.I recently took some street style images (as part of my job) and came across one girl called Rachel who literally just pinned this look perfectly. Just a simple black dress and silk vintage pattern bomber. Very similar to the image above actually.

  Black is obviously a colour that goes with everything, I mean try name one thing that it doesn't go with... Okay, navy! But still, I think sometimes black and navy work. So basically, it goes with everything, but the point I'm trying to make is that is that it particularly works with the vintage bomber. 

Below are current options available at Primark which I love, just incase you want to take a leaf out of my book and try the cheaper options before commiting to the higher priced options. Also, they are both just beautiful designed and at 15 pounds! #Bargain 

I have the floral option but getting the black one next :)

July Loves

It's all about reinforcing summer vibes for me this month. White is a colour I would never normally opt for when it comes to denim, but I'm trying to be brave! Topshop have some great options, the best being the ripped denim version in the image above. I have these denims in black and navy, they are a great fit and a complete bargain so I have no excuse but to try these out.

The white crochet top is from H&M which I actually tried on in the shop the other day and regret not buying it then so much. You know if you're still thinking about it a few days later you have to give in and buy it! And that is exactly what I'm going to do. It's also a great styling options with a pair of high waisted denims fr the festival season. Can't wait to wear mine to Electric Picnic at the end of September. The mix of the orange bag and lip definitely give the pop of color to the look.

Pool sliders are a massive trend right now,and I love them. Perfect for my ripped jeans! Primark have some lovely options if you're shopping on a budget. I recently bought the Iphone 5s in black (switching from the white for a change), so that is why it's featured, because I love it!

Street Style #2: Denim

So for the second installment of this street style segment, I have decided to focus my attention to some denim love. Ripped denim has taken over my fashion vision, it's all I want. So when it comes to fashion inspiration I always find myself most innovated by street style. When I'm on social media it tends to be all I look up. So to put all my hours spent doing this to use I decided to feature some of my favorites with you guys. Every week I will share five of the best street style snaps that I have come across. Lately I've been loving laid back, casual styling and this is very much reflected in the images below. Festival Fever

With Coachella done and dusted for another year, it really does cement the beginning of festival season 2014. When I first began my blog, almost a year ago, my favourite topic to write about (and still is) festival style/boho chic, the hippy genre. I loved the laid back, effortless approach and honestly, I would dress this way everyday if I could. But unfortunately I can't! So I talk about this as much as I can and that's how I get my fix! Over the next few weeks/months I feel festival topics will appear on every blog, fashion magazine/website that we come across, it's just that time of the year. The good thing is I don't know anyone who doesn't like to hear about it :) I will be focusing my attention to boho inspirations, styles I'm loving & looks that I have spotted. I will do this by carrying out the posts festival specific, this is just a small warm up to the season approaching us.

London Fashion Week: Best Of British

                 

So London Fashion Week is over and done with for another season and for all us fashion bloggers it is a natural reaction to assess the collections, themes, trends and overall performance for personal favourites. Personally, London has always been the forefront winner amongst all the fashion cities, purely because of the authenticity of the designs. Unique always springs to mind and thankfully this time around it was no disappointment. British designers always just "get-it", perhaps it is the diverse range of patterns and abstract use of colours or maybe it is down to their extremely "trendy" lifestyles in the city of London, either way it results in collections that are sought after by fashionistas alike globally.

For this post I have decided to focus on three British brands that have continually over the past number of seasons have blown me away creatively.  As an Event Management graduate I focus not only the designs but the whole experience of the showcase of each brand, from the set design to the location and everything in between. These brands are Sibling, House of Holland and Holly Fulton. If this is your first time hearing of any of these designers is certainly will not be your last.

Sibling

  

The Sibling brand is made up of three designers; Sid  Bryan, Joe Bates and Cozette Mc Creery residing from Yorkshire, Leicester and London respectively. What strikes me about this brand is that it isn't traditional high fashion pieces, the approach is more "bohemian witch chic" which is especially evident is the AW14 collection, which is seen above. The speciality of this brand is the emphasis on knitted goods, a unique trait in itself and, lets face it, perfect for the colder, harsh winter season which we are accustomed to.  Sibling were recently quoted saying "expect colour, humour, sparkle and that everything will be knitted", which is not only off the beat fashion but an aspect of styling which other major designers do not play with as much, or so I have noticed anyway. In my opinion this is ery fashion at it's best and this new vibe is taking a step forward into the "trendy, east London" girl style with a realistic output. Sibling is absolutely a one to watch over the coming seasons.

  

Holly Fulton

  

Born in Edinburgh and later studying at the Edinburgh College of Art and the Royal College of Art, Fulton has recently rose to become one of the leading highlights of London Fashion Week, the spotlight beginning with the star studded front row last September which included the likes of Kelly Osborne, Harry Styles and Sienna Miller. The designer states that her signatures pieces are " graphic print, luxurious materials and hot accessories".  One of the biggest trends for SS14 was the revival of white. Other trends included sports luxe, graphic art and monochrome, and what Fulton has created so effortlessly is the cluster of all these styles in one garment. At first it would seem like this is just simply not possibly and that it would be an OVERKILL! But it works, and it works beautifully. Bright, fresh, clean tones with a hint subtle hint of graphic art, this is fashion for SS14 at it's best. Some pieces have a strong element of orange, another vibrant colour for the approaching season and one that seems to be re-occurring as times go by. The one thing I will finish on about this latest collection from Holly Fulton is that this is the next generation of top designers and this is only the beginning of a beautiful relationship for fashion lovers.

  

House of Holland 

  

Henry Holland is probably the brand with the most global success of the three mentioned. Born in Ramsbottom, Holland studied at London College of Printing  and worked as a stylist before developing his own fashion brand. When I think of HOH words that spring to mind are playful, colour, bold prints with exotic underlays and quintessential britishness. Looking at his SS14 showcase, lilac backdrops, mexican vibes and flirty textures, it not only paved the way for an exciting season of fashion but it also put an extreme amount of pressure on the next season to deliver a collection which could live up to the hype. House of Holland delivered just that. Exploring metallics and greens to the extent which this collection has shows the brand as not only diverse but not afraid to break out of its comfort zone. With the inclusion of hot pinks and orange, we are presented with an array of styles which truly stood out from the fashion haven of fashion week, period.  Holland is not one to shy away from risks and usually does so with experimenting with graphic prints, this time around we see a step back from prints and more emphasis on bolder, stronger colours and tones. My favourite from this collection is the emerald green suit, it is that perfect ensemble which can be deemed timeless.

SS14 Trends: Green with Envy

Every season there is a colour that dominates the catwalk, magazines and the high street. Over the next few posts I am going to talk you through these trends and how we can style each one to suit yourself.  This  time around it comes in the form of green. Brighter tones always show their sunny selves at the beginning of spring, primarily beginning with Fashion Week and progressively more so in the following weeks. SS14 forecasts include sorbet pastels, sophisticated sportswear and  monochrome madness but with traditional summer floral prints taking a tropical makeover we are seeing green everywhere.

What I enjoy most about this fresh approach to summer brightness is that is an upgrade from SS13 trends which were more bohemian (which I loved) but this approach brings pristine to our style in a way that "Gypset" didn't. Now, I wouldn't go throwing away our maxi skirts just yet but there are many ways to incorporate the "green" way of living without doing a style-over. Khaki green has been a prominent feature in summer style for the past number of years, but the difference this time is the exciting prints, think monochrome with green replacing black. Personally I think this colour will better suit blondes and my favorite way to incorporate this into my look is with a casual jumper. It is simple but yet allows you to stand out from the crowd. 

The great thing about opting for green for the coming season is that it translates right across the trend board, from fruity flora's to art graphics to smart tailoring. So if you tend to change your mind a lot about what "your style" is you still don't have to pigeon hole your self just yet. Investing in key pieces such as one good quality jumper, a tote bag or "barely-there" sandals in green could assist you through all your various looks this spring/summer. 

For the adventurous souls who wish to attempt this trend though the form of make up my advise is to be very careful. Obviously, the best form of experimentation is on the eyes. Taupe eye shadow best suit blondes with brown hair but brunettes could easily incorporate dark green in their normal smoky eye mix, it's all about the shading! For those of you who don't tend to go OTT on the eyes can always have the subtle approach in the form of a liner pencil.  Rimmel have s great range of shadow and pencil liners for you to discover the one that best suits your skin tone.
